The skin on our face is very sensitive to we always strive to take the best care of it; however, we often overlook another crucial part of our upper body, the neck. The neck is one of the few parts of the body that really reveals our true age, which is why most people opt to accessorize over their neck or go through procedures that allow them to “defy” aging.
The skin of the neck is very soft and sensitive but we often fail to recognize the importance of its health since we could easily cover it up with scarves and turtleneck sweaters. Some products like SK II facial treatments can also be used on the neck but it’s also important to give the neck its own routine and tender loving care.
There are simple remedies in order to remove the neck’s darkness and they could give instant results, however, daily neck care routine is advisable if you want to prolong the youth and elasticity of your neck’s skin. Take a few minutes of your day to do your neck care that involves one or all of the three steps. Here are some of the best ways to remove your neck’s darkness:
1. Steaming
It’s no question that hot water is helpful in cleaning the skin. In this method, we use hot towels to focus heat unto the neck area and remove the dirt buildup present there. The first step is to dip the face towel or small towel in hot water (hot but not boiling hot). Then, after squeezing the excess water from the towel, wrap it around your neck and leave for 5 minutes. It’s the first and most important step in neck care.
Steaming allows the closed pores to open up and it enables the frozen dirt and dead skin to leave the neck area effectively. Steaming is best done together with other facial skin care routines since the heat from the towel will also allow its neighboring pores to open up.
2. Exfoliating
Exfoliation is the process of removing dirt from the pores. If you don’t exfoliate your neck often, it could lead to permanent darkness and eventually lines that make your neck look “dirty”. In this method, you will need salt, baking soda, coconut oil and a mixing bowl. In the bowl, mix one teaspoon of salt, one tablespoon baking soda (or sodium bicarbonate) and three tablespoons of coconut oil. You can mix the components with a used cleaned toothbrush or a disposable spoon. After the mixture is done, apply it immediately on your steamed neck, massaging gently and focusing on dark spots.
Just like steaming, the exfoliating process also requires that you leave the mixture on your neck for at least 5 minutes in order for it to work on the dirt buildups. Rinse off after you are satisfied with the length of time.
3. Whitening
In order to whiten the neck, a natural whitening paste is needed. In a bowl, mix together a tablespoon of sandalwood powder, a tablespoon of mulberry clay, a cup of lemon juice and half a cup of raw milk. Apply the whitening paste on your neck and leave for around 10 minutes in order for it to take effect. There is no need to massage it on your neck and it works wonderfully as natural bleaching.
All-in-all, the entire neck skin care routine should take approximately 20 to 30 minutes. You can easily prepare each step while waiting for the previous step to take effect so you can make perfect use of your waiting times. It’s best to take care of your neck at least three times a week or every other day to give the mixtures time to take effect.
The neck is one of the most overlooked parts in skincare routines, but it plays an important part in our physical beauty. Minimizing the darkness in our neck could enhance our appearance, as well as, give us a boost of confidence. Good thing that in the absence of neck creams, we can easily concoct our very own natural remedies for neck darkness.
While neck creams are very handy and easy to use, having knowledge on taking care of your neck organically allows you to beautify without spending too much. Always remember that the neck is just as important as your face in your physical appearance.
