The new year is a great time to figure out your goals and priorities for the upcoming 12 months. Of course, when we make these goals around New Year’s Day, they usually become our New Year’s Resolutions. Some men have just one resolution, while others may have a dozen. Keep reading for nine resolutions we think every man should consider.
Resolution #1: Wear Clothes That Fit Your Body Type
This may seem obvious, but many men need help when it comes to selecting better-fitting clothes. The key is to understand your body type and shop accordingly. Are you relatively tall and wide? Shop clothing brands with a wide range of sizes, so your clothes aren’t too small. Have a more slender frame? Try tops like slim fit tees. Remember, the size and shape of your body will play a role in which clothes fit comfortably and are flattering.
Resolution #2: Invest in a Quality Suit
Investing in a high-quality suit this year is a great goal. There are many occasions when you might need to wear a suit, like a wedding, a work party, a milestone birthday party or another event. Look for a proper fit and high-quality materials to ensure you look and feel your best.
Resolution #3: Upgrade Your Casual Wardrobe
Take a look at your current wardrobe and consider leveling up your closet this year with new hoodies, long sleeve tees, shorts and pants. When your casual clothes are well-maintained and high-quality, you can keep your laid-back style while still looking put together.
Resolution #4: Up Your Grooming Game
Another resolution that you may want to add to the list this year is to up your grooming game. Staying in or working from home have resulted in many people skipping haircuts and going too long in between shaves.

Get on top of brushing, shaving and trimming. Regular haircuts are a good indicator of how people care about their hygiene and appearance, so it’s worth investing in high-quality soap, shampoo and shaving products for the level of care you deserve.
Resolution #5: Add More Quality Accessories to Your Wardrobe
Dressing well isn’t just about your shirt, pants and shoes. Accessories are a simple way to level up your wardrobe and put some more effort into how you look. Consider investing in a new hat, watch, belt, chain, sunglasses or other accessories that speak to your sense of style. Be sure to purchase items made with high-quality materials to ensure they last a long time.
Resolution #6: Dress Confidently
Put your best foot forward in the new year by dressing in clothes that will boost your confidence. You can do this by wearing the right size, finding styles you feel comfortable in and figuring out what color palette works with your skin tone and preferences.
Even something like your neckline can make or break your self-confidence. Explore v-necks, crew necks, henleys, pullovers and other designs to see what makes the most sense for your lifestyle. Already have a favorite hoodie or shirt at home? Use that as your guide when you go shopping.
Resolution #7: Clean Out Your Closet
We all have items that have been shoved in the back of our closets for years and we still have yet to wear them. Go through your closet and dresser and sort through what you should keep or get rid of. You can save what you’ll actually wear and donate items that don’t fit or just don’t make the cut with how you dress today.
Doing a closet cleanout before the new year can also help you figure out what to buy. You may realize you’re low on tees once you get rid of those t-shirts with stains or holes in them. Or, you might realize your shoe collection is lacking, and you could use a couple of new pairs of high-tops or sneakers for your days off.

Resolution #8: Prep Your Outfits
Preparing your outfits ahead of time can help you save time and stress. Think about setting aside time each Saturday or Sunday to pick out what styles you want to wear for the week ahead. Put them together in your closet or place them on your dresser in nicely folded stacks. This allows you to choose your outfits with care and ensure you have coordinating accessories.
Resolution #9: Prioritize Self-Care
There are a ton of options when it comes to self-care activities. It could be as extravagant as taking an extended vacation in a different country or as simple as setting aside five minutes to meditate before your coffee. Think about what restores your energy and makes you healthy, and set aside time over the coming months to give back to yourself.
If you’re new to the idea of self-care, think about starting with something like daily showers, going to the gym five days a week, or choosing one to two days a month to take off work. These are all familiar activities that may be helpful for you to do more regularly to take care of your mind and body.
Set Your Own New Year’s Resolutions
It can be challenging to invest time, money and effort into yourself, especially if it’s by doing things you don’t think are necessary. This year, prioritize yourself by putting in the work to upgrade your wardrobe, maintain good grooming habits or do whatever other resolution will make you feel great in the new year. With the right resolutions in place, you can work toward accomplishments that mean something to you.
