What To Expect From Summer 2015

If you’re looking for a simple cheat sheet to follow this summer, for emerging trends and what’s hot in 2015, here is a sneak-peak at what you’ll see more often, worn by the fashion-savvy.

Clogs

Yes, this seems to have been transported straight out of the ‘70s Netherlands. However, worn with socks and a dress, this cute footwear trend is one not to ignore this year.

Trainers

If you’re not too keen on wearing clogs, you can always fall back on trainers. This comfortable option has been all over the runways, and – complete with floral patterns – you have yourself a statement that can take you around the world’s largest cities, without getting sore feet.

Hippy Luxe

Surprisingly wearable throughout the warmer summer months, bohemian ‘70s maxi dresses can keep you cool and protect your skin from the sun. They also look laid-back, summery, and are highly flattering.

Monochrome

The combination of black and white will always look smart and sophisticated. Match with pearl jewellery – such as pedants from mesenso.com – and you have a look that would make Coco Chanel proud.

Sheer Black

Sheer panels and inserts are back in fashion, adding a sultry touch to many outfits. Take it to the next level with a sheer top, matched with a bandeau, and a high waist skirt.

Romantic Lace Whites

Ethereal, lace shifts, all in white are making an appearance this season. Although you have to be careful not to spill anything on them, this angelic look is really beautiful. There must be something romantic in the air this year, as ballerina gowns are also on-trend. Long, tutu-like skirts, with wispy, ivory tops are all the rage.

Kimono

This almost universally-flattering shape has been adapted from Japanese fashion, and involves a thick tie around the waist, to draw it in. Choose a kimono dress with a light, natural, breathable fabric and a floral pattern, for that extra hint of summer.

Latex Effect

Not one for the faint-hearted, the wet, latex effect is on-trend for evening wear. This shimmering plastic look is fantastic in black, and can really accentuate your best features. Think less dominatrix, and more sci-fi.

Jumpsuits

Whether for a retro look, or modern all-in-one chic, the right jumpsuit can look absolutely fantastic. You could use denim fabric, for a more dungaree, country style, or you could go khaki (matched with a handkerchief hair bow) to channel your inner Rosie the Riveter.

Nautical

Hopefully you will see some sun, sand, and sea this summer. Regardless, the nautical trend can make you feel as though you’re only a few feet away from the coastline. A little on the Parisian side, striped tops and navy skirts are definitely in this summer – add a red accent, such as a neckerchief to really go all-out.

Feathers

Finally, feathering is a lovely way to add texture to any summer dress. Create extra movement and touchability with soft, feathery fabrics.
