Looking young and fresh improves your confidence, which lends itself to improving all aspects of your life. You can’t just wash your face and put on makeup to look younger, though. Here are some tips you can try yourself to achieve a more youthful look.
- Start by wearing less makeup. Too much foundation can settle in your wrinkles and make them more apparent. Piling on eyeshadow dates your look while caked-on foundation makes you look pasty and discolored.
- Bright, wide eyes are associated with youth. Make your eyes appear more open by curling your eyelashes up and using a combination of lengthening and thickening mascaras. Consider switching from black mascara to a color that will brighten coloration in your corneas, like navy blue or brown.
- Massage your face with an essential oil like jojoba to temporarily lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Jojoba moisturizes and helps regulate oil production, while the massage will increase blood flow, which will then give you a naturally vibrant look.
- Our lips tend to thin and wither as we age. Plump them with your favorite brand’s lip plumping formula to erase signs of again and regain the lips you had when you were younger. Your brows also tend to lose their shape over time, so stay on top of brow maintenance to make your eyebrows a defined feature.
- Temporarily paralyzing targeted muscles around your forehead with Botox will not only release wrinkles caused by constant muscle tension, which most of us experience, but will also help prevent the formation of new wrinkles by preventing you from creasing those areas while your treatment lasts.
- Treat age-related discoloration with lemon applied topically. Lemon moisturizes and has antibacterial properties that are perfect for acne-prone skin and blackheads. It’s also perfect for use around the elbows and knees where skin can become dark.
- Eliminate the dulling effect that aging has on your hair by adding highlights and lowlights to your natural color. Cover greys with a root touch-up device to prevent a grey halo that can make you appear drained. Move your part to avoid premature greying caused by constant sunlight in one area.
- Get enough sleep. Easier said that done, right? But going to bed just an hour earlier can have a dramatic effect on your mood and appearance. Sleeping on silky sheets can reduce the friction and creasing that happens as you sleep, and if you’re able to sleep on your back with your face away from the pillow, that’s even better.
- Eat less sugar to preserve your good mood, health and youthful looks. Drink a glass of red wine every day for a healthy dose of antioxidants that fight free radicals.
- Drink plenty of water. Your skin is made up of a lot of water, so you need to replenish that water on a daily basis to keep skin looking plump, bouncy and youthful, as well as healthy and able to heal itself properly.
